 “E-filathlos” virtual community aims to the projection and  the distinction of sport spirit, the cultural and social aspects of sport.

The initiative-action of the Research Institute brings on the concept of community in the sport field  enhancing the dialogue and oposing questions among individuals, institutions and organizations  regarding violence and racism incidents in sport life. “E-filathlos” virtual community invites sports fans, sport clubs, parents, students, athletes to an actively participation against violence and racism in sport life via on line and off line activities and events.

The Electronic European sports fan “e-filathlos” considers sport as a social space, wants stadiums and courts free for everybody, informs and araises public awareness about violence and racism in sport life, organizes local community actions.

Sports is a way of expression that brings messages of friendship, cooperation and participation. We can help the spread of these messages through a public and interaction medium as the internet is. Internet gives us the ability tp develop and communicate ideas and practices for the prevention of violent behavior in the sports fields.

The activities in virtual community focus on exchanging  different points of views in our forum, news , especially about sport violence, voting. You can also read and download our e-comic “Filathliotites” and of couse propose scenarios for the upcoming “Filathliotites”.
We invite you to visit and participate to our community by sending to us your suggestions and remarks and also by organising  your own activities in your community.

In the effort to inform public about the social aspects of the Digital Divide we developed the portal www.digitaldivide.gr, which focus on New Technologies and their relations with Social Sciences.

The portal “digitaldivide” consists of interconnecting interventions and activities that aim to : 

1. Inform individuals and social groups about the possibilities that new technologies offer in the organization of every day life
2. Create, develop and networking communities with common characteristics, ideas and needs.  Forum and blogs help the communitcation and co-operation between individuals  and social groups with common interest on social sciences. In a second level individuals and social groups share their articles, organize their seminars and conferences as well as local activities
3. Create an educational  portal in Greek language about new technologies  in an  understandable way for the public
4. Encounter the emerging problems about the use of the technology products through informative campaigns, online educational programmes (e-learning platforms), research activities, projects, workshops
5. Format a  new frame of social sciences activities, with interefences and practices that embody new technologies and especially the internet

Our portal originates from equivalent initiatives from the international space (http://www.ncess.ac.uk/ , http://redress.lancs.ac.uk/overview.html). Social Sciences can help us to understand the needs of individuals and social groups proposing direct and applicable solutions to social problems with the support of new technologies and the internet.

The portal www.digitaldivide.gr is a virtual space of expression and creativity, a space of interaction, communication and social organisation.

In order to materialize our ideas and vision we cooperate with the Greek Sociological Association (www.sociology.gr).
